Our Story

The Capitol Riverfront Parks Foundation, established by the Capitol Riverfront BID in 2017, serves as a philanthropic arm dedicated to advancing the BID’s mission through charitable initiatives. The Foundation’s primary goal is to enhance, support, and sustain the neighborhood’s vital parks and public spaces—strengthening the community-centered spirit that defines Capitol Riverfront.

With an abundance of parks and green spaces, Capitol Riverfront offers places to gather, play, and recharge and the Foundation is committed to making the neighborhood more vibrant, resilient, and inclusive. Through investments in public realm improvements, community programming, and accessibility initiatives, we work to ensure that our parks are welcoming to all, foster environmental sustainability, and nurture a shared sense of place.

Our Mission

The Capitol Riverfront Parks Foundation enhances, activates, and stewards the neighborhood’s parks and public spaces to foster an inclusive, vibrant, and sustainable urban community. Through partnerships, programming, and investment, we create welcoming public spaces that inspire connection and community, promote well-being, and support the diverse needs of residents, workers, and visitors. The Capitol Riverfront Parks Foundation enhances, activates, and stewards a cohesive network of world-class parks and public spaces that celebrate the area’s diverse history and promote an inclusive, vibrant, and sustainable urban community. Through thoughtful programming, partnerships, and investment, the Foundation inspires connection and well-being and supports the diverse needs of residents, workers, and visitors. It also serves as a convener that unites public, private, nonprofit, and community voices to advocate for public spaces as essential to the neighborhood’s quality of life.
